homologation
Homologation means a car has to be officially approved for racing, so the maker builds enough of them to meet rules.
Homologation is the process of certifying a vehicle to meet specific racing regulations, often requiring a minimum number of production units. Manufacturers build these models mainly for compliance rather than mass sales.
