preload
Preload is how tightly a bearing is adjusted. If it’s set wrong, the bearing can wear out quickly or start making noise. That’s why correct adjustment matters when servicing bearings.
Preload is the controlled amount of tightness or end-play adjustment applied to a bearing assembly. Proper preload helps bearings run smoothly without excessive friction or premature wear; incorrect preload can cause noise and overheating.
