red flag
A red flag means the race is paused because something dangerous happened, like a crash or bad weather. Everyone stops and waits until it’s safe again.
In motorsports, a red flag indicates that the race or session is stopped due to unsafe conditions such as an accident, severe weather, or debris on the track. Drivers must return to the pit lane and wait for the race to resume.
