blow by
When a car’s engine isn’t sealing properly, the hot gases can escape past the rings and into the oil area. This can cause engine wear and reduced performance.
Blow by refers to the leakage of combustion gases past the piston rings into the crankcase, often indicating worn rings or cylinder head gasket issues.
