Too Afraid to Ask

At higher elevations, there’s less oxygen in the air, so engines don’t make as much power. That’s why a truck can feel slower or weaker in the mountains compared to flat ground.

Technical Definition

Elevation reduces engine performance because the air is thinner, which lowers the amount of oxygen available for combustion. Gas engines are especially noticeable in this scenario, often feeling “anemic” because they can’t make as much power as they do at sea level.
