parking brake
The parking brake is a special brake that keeps your car from rolling when it's parked. You pull it to make sure the car stays still.
The parking brake, also known as the handbrake or emergency brake, is a secondary braking system used to keep a vehicle stationary when parked. It engages the rear brakes to prevent the car from rolling.
