axle
Too Afraid to Ask
The axle is a metal rod that holds each wheel in place and lets the car move. It also carries the power from the engine to the wheels.
Technical Definition
An axle is the shaft that connects the wheels to the vehicle’s suspension and drivetrain, transmitting power from the differential to the wheels.
